Welcome to the Rigid Wings Web Site!
This site is presented for those of you who have an interested in "rigid wings": foot-launched motorless aircraft that have aerodynamic controls and and/or are made of composite materials. At one end of the range, these craft (e.g. Exxtacy) are very close to weight-shift-controlled hang gliders in appearance and concept, while at the other end of the range (e.g. Tempest, Carbon Dragon) these craft more closely resemble conventional sailplanes, only lighter.
Also presented on this site
are some ultralight sailplanes; while not foot-launchable, they are closer
to hang gliders than to other sailplanes.
