Back in business (obviously)
If you’re reading this, obviously I’m back in business. The server was down for only 4 hours, during which time I did a complete Linux install, copied data files back from backup, re-created all databases, and debugged problems. Sorry for any inconvenience.
During the rebuild, I installed a new version of Mandriva Linux from scratch, wiping the partition where all my programs were previously installed; that insured that any infected software would be removed.
Next I copied over all of the data files I had previously saved on another machine. This data included backup copies of the databases needed for this Wordpress blog software, the Bikeroots website, the Flight Poetry site, and the High Plains Drifters site.
I then recreated all of the databases and sorted out some issues there. Now all is well, except for the lack of a local mail server; that will have to wait until tomorrow.
